As legend has it, The Fountain of Youth is said to be a spring that restores your youth if you drink its waters. There have been stories that such a fountain has been recounted across the world for thousands of years. The stories first appearing in Herodotus, the Alexander romance and stories told by Prester John.

The aboriginal people of the Caribbean during the Age of Exploration, told similar stories of such water with restorative powers in the mythical land of Bimini Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de León, first Governor of Puerto Rico was said to have been attached to this legend in the 16th century. According to a fictitious story that features a combination of the New World and Eursian elments, Ponce de León traveled to what is now Florida in 1513 in search of the Fountain of Youth.Stories of the fountain have become most persistent affiliated with that state ever since.
